Updated: Sep 28, 2021

So you've accepted your offer...you've chosen your uni and course...and you're ready to begin your new adventure into Uni life. But now you need to find a home. And we know how daunting that can be. So we've pulled together a Top 5 of things to consider from speaking to all of our residents at ELS House.

  1. PRIVACY: Will you be sharing any of your spaces? Some student accommodation only provide you with a bedroom, so make sure you check what is included in your private space. At ELS House, you get a whole apartment to yourself, so no need to worry about leaving the top off the toothpaste!

  2. BATHROOMS: Ok, so we all have our morning rituals, and no one likes to wait for the shower to be free. So check to see if you'll be sharing your bathroom. At ELS House, you get your very own bathroom, so you can take as long as your like in the shower! And no fighting over mirror time when you're getting ready for a night out on the town.

  3. SIZE: How much space do you get? A lot of the student accommodation in town offer pods, with a bed and desk. At ELS House, we offer spacious studios, 1 bed apartments and 2 bed apartments, so you really have your own pad to call Home.

  4. LOCATION: How close is your accommodation to your University? You need to make sure you factor in your travel time for lectures. Not only that, but also what's around you? Where can you satisfy those late night study munchies when you're cramming for exams? ELS House is well places for all the major unis - close to Heriot-Watt University, close to Napier University and close to The University of Edinburgh. Check out our location here which also includes a map with a list of what's nearby - from supermarkets to takeaways and even the Zoo!

  5. STAFF: Who's going to look after you?! We know that, for some of you, it's your first time leaving home, and that can be a bit overwhelming. We also know that some of you are coming from overseas, so aren't up-to-date with how things work over here in Scotland. At ELS House, our small but perfectly formed team are here to help!
